These pictures are great!! It brings back so many memories of the “old south.” My great great grandmother, (Rebecca A. Dense Harris) ran a boarding house in Chauncey Town, and my great grandmother, (Sadie C. Morrisey Harris) was a milliner (made hats) there. This was in the late 1800’s.
My great grandfather, Cleveland Coffee was killed in a fight in Empire, Georgia, and is buried in the Bowers Family Cemetery in Empire. He was killed in 1892 at the Empire & Dublin Railroad office. He lived in Amoskeag. Do you know anything about any of these places?
I’m so glad you like the site, Carol, and glad it brings back good memories…My great-grandmother was also a native of Dodge County and was a Sadie, too! Sadie Harrell Browning. Her father was one of many John Lovett Harrells, but I know she was named for a friend of her mother (Roxie Obedience Bohannon). Her friend was also named Sadie! Very common name back then, and still one of my favorites…
