Colonial Revival House, Eastman

The loss of this house would be a real shame, but it’s not abandoned, and the owners may list it for sale in the future. It served for many years as a law office and is still in relatively good condition. At least a window has been boarded to keep out the elements and varmints of the two- and four-legged varieties. It’s design is an amalgam of several styles and since, as I often note, I’m not an architectural historian, I’m at a loss to properly classify it.

The vintage Plymouth Fury III parked beside it is a wonder in itself.

This was the first home I ever saw that had a tiled fireplace in the entrance area. I had to drop some papers off to the lawyer but I only got to see this area. I hope someone can maybe get this home on the ‘historical house register ‘ to give them time to repair the house. It’s got to have some history tied to the city’s early years and I would love to learn more.

I now own this old beautiful home. My Daughter, Zoe, above, forwarded me this pic on FB. I have a great deal of historical documentation on this home. If I had known it was to be mine, it wouldn’t have gotten into such disrepair. I would actually love for someone who will restore it to it’s former glory to purchase it. The lhouse and lot are huge, almost an entire city block and it’s located on “the court house square” in Eastman, Ga.

This house may be up for sale soon. It was purchased and used for my grandfather’s law office for many years, only falling into disrepair due to my grandmothers age. It has been broken into several times, used by hoodlums as a base, and now family is working on getting it cleaned out so we can get a full look to see what all is needed to rehabilitate it. The Library and woodwork throughout is lovely.

  4. The street that house is on has several fantastic old houses. I would like to know more of their histories.

Brian, Is this house for sale or just abandoned? It is beautiful and it really makes me sad to see somebody’s old Home Sweet Home just falling into lonely neglect.
What city is this closest to?

Geoff, this home is for sale, but not listed. If you know someone who would be interested, let me know. I own it now, my Mother recently passed. It is in Eastman, Ga on the court house square. I also have the history on it. My contact info: Nancy Heath cell: 478-278-6900.

      • Hello, Nancy. I work in Eastman sometimes and have admired this house for over a decade. Are you Ann Smiths cousin? If you ever seriously want to ‘clean it out’ please call me first. I know several people in Eastman who would vouch for me. Many thanks, David Bray
