Thank you again for bringing back so many memories. I went to college at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton FL with a guy from Jessup. He did not have a Southern accent and I asked why. His reply was that so many people kidded him about it he got rid of it. However, one night his mother and his grandmother called the dorm to wish him a happy birthday and he slipped right back into the Southern accent. I guess you can take the boy out of South GA but you can’t take the South GA out of the boy.
Ludowici had a bad name for years because of a traffic light. Hwy US 301 came through Ludowici and you had to make a left turn at this traffic light. Evidently a deputy would sit hidden and change the light o red just as a tourist went through. AAA would route people around Ludowici for years.
