Shiloh Church, DeSoto

This historic church was located just outside DeSoto near Chokee Creek. The photo dates to 2008, and I think the church is gone now. I haven’t been able to track down any history of the congregation but I believe it was African-American.

Ferguson Store Sign, DeSoto

The Ferguson Store was located on the ground level of the DeSoto Masonic lodge. It was most recently known as Disco D’s Warehouse, which I assume was a nightclub.

DeSoto Banking Company Tilework, 1910

Tilework like this graced the entrances of most important commercial buildings in the first decade of the 2oth century, especially banks. This one is a bit unusual in that it denotes the date of construction instead of the name of the business.

This  church was located beside Chokee Creek. As of 2015, I’m not sure if it’s still standing.
