Log Tobacco Barn, Brooklet

Though the hearth has been removed, the tobacco steps still remain in this landmark outside Brooklet, recently exposed by timber removal.

Thanks to Kenneth Dixon for the identification. The home was built by Peter Cone Waters (1859-1927). Later owners were the Preetorius and Flake families.

Parker Street, Brooklet

Many of Brooklet’s historic downtown storefronts have been restored or well maintained and Parker Street continues to be the commercial heart of the town.

Brooklet is a friendly little town just outside Statesboro. I had a nice talk with a third-generation member of the Robertson family when I was here.
