Lockhart, Georgia

Rustic shotgun house with a corrugated metal roof, surrounded by trees and open ground.

It’s hard to find Lockhart on the map these days, but I wanted to share what remains of this unincorporated community. It never even had a post office but it has been a voting precinct in recent years. I first thought this shotgun building to have been an old store, but it could have just as well been a home. I hope someone will know.

Hall-and-Parlor Cottage, Lockhart

An old, abandoned house partially obscured by bare trees and overgrown vegetation, with a brick chimney and a rusty metal roof under a clear blue sky.

The front of this house is all but gone and it sits immediately behind another structure, but I wanted to share it in hopes of learning more.

Burroughs House, Lockhart

An abandoned wooden house with a rusty metal roof, boarded windows, and a wooden fence with a 'Private Property' sign in front. Surrounding vegetation is dry and sparse.

This house was razed around 2013.
