It’s nothing short of amazing that a little hotel like this is still in operation. It’s perhaps Nahunta’s greatest remaining commercial landmark. Built by Fred. O. Knox, it closed in 1966. It reopened in 1986.
I have a picture of this hotel. The story told by my Grandfather and Grandmother is of my Grandfather’s brother was a police officer and he used to come to the hotel and sit in the lobby and he probably ate there or nearby. One day he was found sitting in a chair and suffered a stroke. I remember visiting him in a nursing home in Jesup when he was bedridden. I think of him everytime I drive by this place.
This is the hometown of many of my family members and my grandmother who’s maiden name is Knox. So glad to see a website like this!!! My Dad was born in a house in nearby Rabun and we were sad to find out that the house has been torn down.

It’s closed now. Sad
I’m so glad I live in and I’m a part of this great small town, Nahunta Ga. Brantley Co.
You can also walk next door and get your hair cut by Mr. C.W.

I love this little Hotel… rocking chairs out on the sidewalk… small town at it’s best… great hostess….. try it, you’ll like it…
I agree, Lance. Not many places like this left in Georgia, or anywhere else for that matter.
