Morehead’s Country Store, Irwinville

Johnny Morehead and family run a great country store and restaurant in Irwinville. Stop by for lunch if you’re ever in the area. There’s some nice Irwinville memorabilia in the store, too. Also, Johnny is one of the largest pecan brokers in the area, so if that’s something that interests you, inquire within.

Ruth Morehead Livingston was my aunt. She may have married after Peggy and Tommy’s daddy but I don’t remember his name. My Uncle LD (Babe) has passed away. His 94 years young sister Alice wants to get in touch with Peggy and I told her I’d try to find her. If anyone knows her please tell her we are trying to reach her. Thank you!

I’m trying to find Ruth Morehead’s daughter, Peggy Livingston before she married. My 94 years young Aunt Alice, Peggy’s daddy’ sister, wants to find her and talk with her. I’m Peggy’s first cousin, her Aunt Ethel’s daughter. If anyone knows her , please pass this on to her. Thank you so much!

Yes. It was on Pine Street, across from the Holtzendorf Apartments. I believe Johnny’s father may have bought it from my grandfather. It was a little vegetable stand/grocery. I remember going there as a child.

Yes. Morehead’s Fruit Stand was on Pine Street across from Holtzendorfs.
Coatis Morehead owned the fruit and vegetable stand and also bought pecans at the store. Coatis Morehead was Johnny Moreheads father. Both lived in Irwinville community.
