I was born approximately two miles from the church, attended first and second grades in the cinder block school building just east of the church, and was baptized in a small pond south of Mr. Gary & Mrs. Effie Moody, when Rev. Thomas was pastor. My parents, siblings, grandmothers, grandfather, aunts, uncles, and cousins were active members of Saco Missionary Baptist Church. We attended service every first Sunday and Sunday School every Sunday. I have many fond memories of Pallbearer Turnouts, revivals, baptisms, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day and Father’s Day programs. I moved out of state a few years after Rev. Fowler became pastor, and returned to visit approximately 25 years ago. It’s a blessing the church is still standing.
This is my family church my family has been going to this church since I was born nearly 40 years ago and they still attend this church. I grew up as the church secretary from a very young age. I even song in the youth choir. I just took a trip down memory lane.
I grew up in this area and went to church there as a child. My sister and aunt and uncle still attend there. The pastor there is around 93 or 94 years old and has been there for more than 50 years.
