the living area was on both sides. One entrance to the house was from the inside of the store. In the back of the store steps lead up to the sitting room . It had 2 gas pumps out front and kerosene pump:also the air compressor was on the left side of store. I was blessed to grow up in Wahoma.
Brian, It has 5 bedrooms,dinning/sitting room, kitchen, living room and 1 bathroom( a second was added in 1970). The area on the side of the house with enclosed fence was my granny’s flower garden area. The store was more my granny’s . Many wonderful memories growing up in Wahoma . Theresa
Probaly was! My grandpa built his living quarters in the back of his store in OWENSBORO. Before that he lived in a wooden farm-house just south of the store and before the house,he lived in a large brick house just north of the store! He and granny raised 9 kids in the community!
This roadside store seems to be much larger than the ones I remember from my youth. Most of the ones I remember you could stand in the middle and just about touch all walls. Could it be that the right side was a living area? Thanks for all your posts.
I think it was, Victor. It does look bigger than your average roadside store.
