This old service station in Leslie was owned by my sister and her husband and operated as a drycleaners and barber shop. Fred (Buddy) Bass and Joanne Battle Bass. His brother was Elton Bass.
Was it ever actually a service station? It looks so much like one. Thanks for the history.
This was my Uncle Wallace Laramore’s Gulf service station up until at least the late 1970s. He would give me and my sister a Yahoo chocolate drink and a candy bar whenever we came from Florida for a visit…a dear, sweet man.
My grandparents lived on Allen street, directly behind the Leslie Baptist Church (L.E. and Vera Deavours). My mother grew up going to that church and we attended whenever we were in town.
