Mr. G’s Bar-B-Que & Convenience Store, Bronwood

Mr. G’s has been abandoned for a long time. The first time I was in Bronwood, in 2009, it looked about the same as it does today. Much has been written about the importance of convenience stores as restaurant choices for people in small towns. I’m sure Mr. G’s served that purpose as long as it could.

This Ol Place has many memories for me. This is my Father in Law’s place me an his son has been trying to open this place up for business in Brownwood for a long time now. I would love to see Bronwood Ga blossom 🌸 to be as beautiful as Plains Ga it has so much potential.

Ms. James- Did your father-in-law make the barbecue? I bet it was good! And if you don’t mind, could you share more about “Mr. G”. What was his name, etc.? I’ll add any information you are willing to share to this article.

Mr. Brown, yes Bronwood vanished when the town was torn down, instead of being fixed up like Sasser or Plains, brought back to life, Mr.G’s is still standing, but would have been torn down if it had been sold…My Aunt Ella Mae had the best barbecue, one of my friends would drive from Leesburg just to get some of that Barbecue and we would drive from Americus, Ga to buy some….

Note strapped-in window AC unit, burglar bars & metal grill on door. Sad to have to put those up for a small humble place like that.
