I met Linda Christian, the owner of this old house and the artist who gave it so much color (in the early 1990s), when I was photographing the location circa 2009. Linda was a delightful person who just wanted to bring joy to others with her work. As of 2015, it has been replaced with a new work by Douglas artist Dylan Ross.

Thank you for including my mural in your wonderful collection. It has brought a lot of joy to me from the people who see it as the ride by on 441. You’ve done a great deed preserving the “vanishing architecture of South Georgia. Thanks again!!!
You are most welcome, Linda. I need to come reshoot it. I believe I met you and your husband as you were driving into your yard the day I took this photograph. That was in the early days of this site, and the image has been popular ever since. It’s YOUR work!
My girlhood friend Linda Irwin Christian painted this (20 or so yrs. ago) on the old farmhouse on her property. It’s wonderful and so is she.
I’ve seen murals on the sides of buildings in small towns in south Georgia, but I’ve never seen anything like this.
