My father, H.C. (Cap) Dorminey taught Agriculture at Rochelle from 1938-1942 and stayed at the Reid Hotel. He told me he paid $22 per month for room and board. Not bad considering he was being paid $150 per month!
I remember my wife and I stayed in the hotel in the fifties. we were around twenty only married about a year. I would like to see pic,s of the old jail if its still there.
I miss this place! After it was a hotel it was used as a thrift store occasionally. Used to shop there as a by with my dad alot.

I’m not sure if it is. I know there’s still one in Pitts, though.
Yes, It was the Reid Hotel. Two co-workers and I stayed there for a few weeks in 1965 while installing a peanut elavator in the Doster Warehouse.

Thanks for the correction, Joseph! I’ll change the listing to reflect your information.
Not structurally sound any more. It burned to the ground last night.
The REID Hotel served Rochelle in early/mid 20th Century. Unfortunately the building has not been maintained since it closed as a hotel.
Thanks for the information, Jim!
