Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Evans County

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church near Daisy, Georgia.

This historic congregation, located a few miles from Daisy, dates to 1845. I’m unsure when the present structure was constructed.

What a glorious accomplishment by these founders, on a beautiful piece of land. And great acts of love by everyone who has kept this property so pristene over the years. Imagine being the lone individual in this community who cannot enter its doors because of an addiction, which was not at all understood in those days. And the scorn of the folks inside. The artists’ work, however, is for us to enjoy and appreciate. THANKS to this great photographer!

As always, good pictures and history lesson on some older churches in South Georgia. I certainly do not know the style of church architecture here, but it seems to be very common of churches from this era. I salute this congregation for its faithfulness in ‘keeping faith alive’ in these rural settings.
