Mobile homes, or trailers, are often used for fishing cabins these days. There are several at Davis Landing. They are set on stilts to protect them when the river floods.
A couple of older structures remain. Bob recalled: Davis landing was where I always went as a child to fish. Daddy had a 7.5 Johnson “kicker,” and I would rent one of Doc Davis’ homemade wooden john boats. I’ve been in that cabin many times. The downstairs was a store run by “H.” Pack of crackers and some bait was usually my purchase and an R.C. Cola. Thanks for the pictures. I recently rode up river in my 50 yr. old aluminum jon boat powered by my ’94 Johnson 3 hp from Eason’s Landing to Davis Landing. This was during the drought, and the river in places was only 2′ at deepest part. Visited all the old fishing hole’s and camping spots. The river has changed a lot since the late 50’s; some old places were not the same, but it is still beautiful.
