Rigdon’s Store, Olifftown

Abandoned store with a rusty roof, overgrown grass, and trees in the background.

Gary Lee writes: “In the late 1960’s and 70’s Mr. Fred Rigdon owned this and besides general merchandise he smoked pork butts and made awesome barbecue. The smoke house still partially exists to the left of the store.

Olifftown was named for the Oliff family, prominent in the area, and very little exists of the old community. It’s possible that the Oliffs owned this store at one time, or that it had other owners besides Mr. Rigdon.

Many great memories of Grandma picking me up here after school in her little white car and letting me go inside for an afternoon snack.
