This is truly one of the best preserved and most beautiful old churches I’ve yet found. The Woodbury congregation was formed by members of the old Concord Methodist Church, originally located about a mile-and-a-half from the present location.

The history of the Methodist Church that I know is that it was originally built outside of town next to where Concord Cemetery is, on Hwy 109 just west of town. The cemetery was originally part of the church. The road at the time actually ran behind where the cemetery is. I believe the church was originally built in the 1840’s. In the 1880’s it was rolled into town on logs by mule, and the towers were added. Unfortunately a lot of detail was lost when the addition was built on the right side of it, and when the vinyl siding was added years back. I believe I have an old picture of the church both before and after it was moved.
Brian, so far the town of Woodbury has not been used for filming but The Walking Dead had a town called Woodbury in the show, but it was actually set in Senoia. There has been a lot of filming close to Woodbury but so far none actually in the city limits.
Beautiful church – just watch out for zombies and one-eyed “governors!”
Charly, was this used as a location for one of those zombie shows?
