Trinity School , 1900s, Hancock County

This historic African-American one-room schoolhouse is located beside Trinity C. M. E. Church, between Jewell and Culverton. By its design, I’d guess that it was built by the congregation in the early 1900s. A similar schoolhouse, located beside Needwood Baptist Church in Glynn County, was built in 1907. Amazingly, this  was in use as an elementary school for African-Americans until 1959.
