A. T. Drake Store, 1930s, Philomath

The Drake family was very active in the early history of Philomath. I believe this has also been known as the Callaway Store.

I remember it as being owned by the Armours too. My mother wet-nursed the Armours’ children. One was named Norman. My mother asked about him every time she went to that store.

My great-grandparents, William and Ethel Armour, used to own that store, and lived right next to it (though the house is gone now). They also owned the Drake House, as did my aunt and uncle.
