      Hello Jake,
I am pleased that you pointed out that the noon meal to us true sons and daughters of South Georgia is “dinner.” “Breakfast” comes early in the morning and the late afternoon early evening meal is “Supper.” We never heard of “Brunch.” That name was invented by lazy folks who must have gotten up too late for breakfast and were too hungry to wait for dinner. What is your favorite proper South Georgia breakfast? Mine is country ham from the smokehouse, two fried over easy yard hen eggs, some locally stone ground white grits, and some orange juice. In the old days, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, and syrup were considered sissy foods. Nobody could work cropping and puttin-in ‘backer on that stuff. Home stuffed pork sausage, and bacon were good substitutes for ham. If our neighbors from North Georgia were visiting, we might have fixed some sawmill gravy and biscuits. Redeye gravy and rice were popular among South Georgians too, but usually eaten at supper.
