Ross House, Morganton

Patty Davenport writes: A Mrs. Ross lived here. She had been a school teacher in the area for many years. Her daughter and son-in-law were both artists and were among the original group to eventually start the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association now housed in the historic courthouse in Blue Ridge.

That was my Grandmother’s house. Her name was Sara Ross; in her later years, she played the organ at Morganton Baptist Church. She passed away in 1988 (or maybe 89; I was 4 at the time). She’s buried in the graveyard at the former Morganton Baptist Church.

More recently, the house was owned by Greg Curbow, the late bass guitar maker, and his wife Margaret.

Thank you for taking beautiful pictures and more importantly sharing them to those who also care about preserving the past.
