Historic Farmstead, Banks County

This central hallway farmhouse has been expanded over time. A smokehouse (or packhouse) remains on the property.

Kathy, your hubby, my brother Dick and I grew up in a house that looked a lot like this…never saw paint. It dated back before the Civil War.had a huge hallway down center with bedrooms on either side. Addition on back was living room, kitchen and bathroom…Indoors! I believe this hallway was originally an open breezeway in what was called a dog trot house. Classic southern design before air conditioning. Lots of memories !

My Uncle George and his wife Pearl Acree had a mill in Banks County I believe near the Stephens Co. line. My Father took me there once 20 yrs ago. The wheel still turns. If you are ever able to photo, please let me know.
