My father preached here in the early 1950s when he was attending the Junior College of Augusta (now Augusta University). It was part of the North Georgia Conference of the Methodist Church (later to be known as the United Methodist Church) and was part of a “charge” (circuit) with the Methodist churches in Appling (no longer standing) and Dearing. He is still living and has fond memories of serving this congregation. One time during that period, my father (Julian Brackman Sr.) did a funeral for a man who was born before the Civil War began.
