Historic Storefronts, Chatsworth

North Third Avenue

A lot of the buildings in downtown Chatsworth have been improved and modernized to a degree, but the historic footprint is all around. The courthouse [to the left, outside of view, of the first photograph] dominates the area.

I’ve liked Chatsworth since visiting Fort Mountain when I was about 12 or 13 and seeing the tower before it was restored. I remember my family eating at a restaurant that seemed to be on the side of the mountain with the nicest owners. I think it was called the Ah-Weh Hut. I’m going to try to track down the business card I still have all these years later.

My father (92) has a photo of his father’s general store in Chatsworth. His name was R. Otis Parker. We looked for it yesterday (2/23/25) and determined it’s the present site of the Shop at 208.
