Typical of Georgia’s rural churches, Mauk United Methodist derives its beauty from the simplicity of its construction. I haven’t been able to locate any history of the church.

I am a native of Mauk. I attended Mauk School for three years until it closed in 1956 and members of my family continue to attend Mauk UMC which celebrated its Centennial about ten years ago.
In response to the inquiry the only correctional facility in Taylor County was the Public Works Camp which closed about fifty years ago. Many counties had PWCs but most were closed in the fifties.
Do you have any info on any of the prisons in South Georgia? My grandfather was apridon guard but I’m not sure where….
