I can’t seem to locate these buildings on a search of Soperton today, but I’m sure they were downtown. If anyone knows, please let me know.

The last time i went through Soperton was late last year, on the way back from a funeral in Sandersville. This does look like what I remember was there, from passing through many years ago. Downtown Soperton today is basically deserted. I believe at one time downtown had both Soperton Hardware and a Western Auto Store, 40-50 years ago. I don’t think either one were customers of my family’s wholesale hardware business, as the town was slightly out of our trading area. But we did have a hardware store in nearby Mount Vernon, and another one in next-door Ailey, plus Wrightsville, Tennille and Sandersville. The store in Wrightsville (L.E. Parkers) was a long-time mainstay of that small town, but eventually closed when the owner died or retired. I believe there was a Fod dealership there, years ago, too. Today, downtown Wrightsville looks a lot like downtown Soperton — just not much there anymore. Such a shame. But, towns ebb and flow as the area economy waxes and wanes.
Hi Brian!
I think these were across the street from Moring’s Store. Pity if they’ve been torn down. Soperton is my hometown but I haven’t lived in Treutlen County for about 30 years. Even when I go visit family I very seldom go into Soperton – my family’s farm is about 10 miles out and halfway between Swainsboro and Vidalia off GA-297.
