This house is almost identical to one my family owned in Snipesville, Jeff Davis County. Our house had the chimney located on the opposite side. The roof on this type of house is continuous or makes a step-down from main building to the porch. Our place had a small porch on the back with rails of cypress wood. I have seen several others that were identical or similar. Our house was built in the 1930s by the Dan Kirkland family.

It looks unusually spacious for a tenant house.
It does to me, as well, but the area was full of them. Perhaps it was an overseer or foreman’s residence.
