This marble-front bank is one of the finest commercial buildings in Jeffersonville. While many are aware of the failure of banks during the Great Depression, there was also a wave of bank failures during the 1900s and 1910s. I’m unsure of the original name of this one, but it’s best known locally as the “Corner Bank”. I believe it now houses an antiques store.

Interesting to note the word “BANK” above the smaller window on the right. I am surprised they didn’t put the full name in the blank space above both windows..
I have seen several small old bank buildings in my travels across the southeast. My wife and I stopped at one in a small town just south of Ocala, FL, recently, (Wildwood) on our way back from visiting family in Clearwater over Christmas, that we happened to spot about lunchtime. It was perhaps a little bigger than the one shown above, and had been turned into a restaurant a few years ago, and was doing quite well.
The new owners had a wall of pictures in a back hallway, showing what the “Bank of Wildwood” looked like when it was built in 1905. Dirt roads, some cars, horses on the streets, etc. An interesting display!
The owner had a cookbook for sale of many of her favorite recipes, some of which were served in the cafe, along with an extensive history of both the building and her family’s history in the area, going back to the Civil War. Of course I had to buy one! And was glad she was trying to preserve that bit of history for posterity.
