Central United Methodist Church, 1926, Fitzgerald

This is the church I grew up in, going to Sunday School and sitting beside my great-grandmother, Sadie Browning (Momma’s side). We always sat near the back and near my great-aunt and great-uncle, Gladys & Chester Brown (Daddy’s side). We also occasionally attended Daddy’s family church, Pine Level Methodist out off Evergreen Road.

This was where my family and I went to church. We lived about three blocks west of here on Central Ave. At one time I was the president of my Sunday School class and the MYF. I also sang in the junior choir at the evening sunday services but my voice was never very good. I could hit the low notes however and they needed the base so they kept me in!
