My name is Marcia Verna Durden Hughes. My father was Mallary Vernon Durden and was from Norristown. My grandmother was Nettie Durden. I would visit Norristown often when I was young.
Brian, I grew up there, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of history that has been recorded. I even checked with John Derden at East Georgia, and he didn’t know of any. Did you get photos of the abandoned warehouse as well?
I am glad I have found this website. I have several accounts on the history of Norristown. I live there now, in the house that belonged to Mr. Norris Durden, who was my grandmother’s uncle.
I love it when people respond with personal history. It certainly adds interest.
Thanks to all who took the time to share!

Raven, I’d love to know more of the history of this place!
