Burton House, Ellaville

Burton House by Linda Adams

Robert Burton, one of the pioneer residents of present-day Schley County, sold the original 150 acres on which the town of Ellaville was settled. The town took its name from Burton’s daughter, Ella.

Hey! You took a picture of my painting! It is one of a series of 13 that I painted on a warehouse wall (warehouse now gone) of historic buildings in Schley County and Ellaville, in 2007, the year of our sesquicentennial. The burton house still stands but it does not look as grand as it does in this painting that was a copy of a watercolor that hangs in City Hall.

I love the murals, Linda! I linked your website, if that’s okay…I have a shot of Hill’s Mill, but will unfortunately have to add it later.
