Calaboose, Coleman

Calaboose is a rarely seen term today that implies a temporary local jail, often in unincorporated areas. This has to be one of the smallest jails in Georgia. Thanks to James Palmer and Rick Ezell for the identification.

Yes this is the old jail, at one time an old hitching post was not far from it until they moved it across the road

Yes, this is the Coleman Callaboose. Have seen another photo of it from the side. The small windows have iron bars across them.

I am almost sure this is the Coleman Callaboose where lawbreakers were put until they could be moved elsewhere. I have always heard of it, but never made a close inspection of it. The windows are too small for an escape.
