This is one of Wayne County’s best-known landmarks. It originally served as a general store and post office; the Fancy Honey sign was added later, probably in the 1940s.

I ran across this earlier today while surfing Facebook. This building belongs to my father, who inherited it his father.
Altamaha Apiaries was the name of my grandfather’s business, they lived in the white wooden house next door.
I grew up helping my father with the beekeeping business after school and during breaks.
Thanks for speaking up, Andy. I was trying to remember your family’s name. I grew up on Bethlehem Road in Jesup. I seem to remember that your grandfather would take his hives to farms in other parts of the country. Is that correct?

I love this building and the things in and around it. Would love to travel down and look at it. I would be interested in buying some of the things. Does anyone know whom the place belongs to? It sure looks like a great old place. I’m sure the older folks have fond memories of days gone by.
ALL my years traveling from home (Brunswick) to Grandaddy’s house in Odum…… upon reaching GARDI and the Honey Building…..we knew we were over half way to Grandma’s and Grandaddy’s house. I live in north middle GA now and miss seeing these great memory makers. Thank You Brian for your diligence !
