      I’m not sure, Harry. I usually photograph murals, as well, but was unable to do it the other day. I believe it honors local educators, but I can’t be sure. I will photograph it next time I’m there. Thanks.

        You’re right – it’s called “Over the Top: A Celebration of Education,” and it was painted in 2003 in honor of Statesboro’s Bicentennial. The man on the left is William James, a prominent African American educator of the early 20th century who established the Statesboro Industrial and High School in 1906 (building in upper left corner of mural).
