My mother now 99 years said this was Ouida G Aldred Taylor’s home (1865–1941) She has a couple pictures of it in her album. Mother was named for her and says it was a hotel. Mothers grandmother Susie Thomas Sheppard and her great aunt Lou Riddle Newsome were good friends of Ouida’s

My great aunt Susie Ivey ran a general store in downtown Davisboro. I ran into an old timer a few years back and he told me that my great aun’s section of town was beyond the RR Tracks and torn down. She had a son Millard who was killed in an accidental shooting by her then current husband. She had a brother GB Ivey and my grandfather, Joseph Sterling Ivey.

I love this old house, built back when people had a lot of children, I guess. One dusk, when I came through, the light was on in the corner room, which seemed to be a wall-to-wall library, as seen from the street. Elegant.
