Central of Georgia Railway Depot, 1869, Bartow

This landmark, built to replace the previous depot (known as Station No. 11) burned by Sherman’s forces on their march to the sea, has been restored and is now home to the Bartow Museum.  Among lots of local history you’ll learn about famous people from this little town, including Roy Evans, inventor of the general purpose (g.p.) vehicle. It’s better known today as the jeep. To schedule a tour, call Peggy Jordan at (478) 364-4030.
