Yatesville United Methodist Church, 1919, Upson County

Established as Friendship Methodist Church in 1853, the first home to this congregation was a simple frame structure. A more formal structure was constructed in 1885. It was razed and the present structure built in 1919.

Looking for Hewett/Hewitt family members that could be buried in the Yatesville Methodist Church Cemetery. 1900’s on. There is a Hilmond Hewett buried there 12-22-1919-9-20-1971 and this could be his wife Vivian Harden Hewett 3/13/1923-3/30/2011. Hilmond’s father was John Thomas Hewett and he is buried in Bethesda Cemetery in Thomaston he died 1929. We are looking for my GG Grandfather William Hewett his wife Mary their daughters – names Mary, Melissa, Nancy, Carloina, Martha. At one time some of them were working in a mill in Yatesville and Barnesvill areas in the 1915-1900’s. They were all poor mill workers and would probably been buried without markers maybe just a stone marker. Does the church have any records during these times of paupers burials or deaths? Any information you can give me will be appreciated for Hewett/Hewitt family search of the area. Sybil Hewitt/Hewett Cauley Opelika, Al 334-749-2969
