I have such fun memories of this store. You see I was born in Stellaville in a little house that is across the highway about five hundred feet from this store. The owner was a man last name Zeigler and he lived across the street from the store. I would get home from school and walk up and down the highway collecting soda bottles, take them to the store for the deposit to get me some cookies and candy.

I also cut grass at the church Way’s Grove and helped a man who always seemed to look out for me, Jerdan Bullnose. You see I was black and we were the only black family in Stellaville. My parents finally had a house built in Wrens in 1968 when I was 12 and we moved there. I still have fun memories of Mr Jerdan and his open Jeep, going fishing with him, and him driving up telling me to jump in so we can go and pick some vegetables that he would give to us. And two older ladies…I know one was Ruth but I don’t remember the other but they stayed together.
