Farmhouse, Gholston Stand Crossroads

Though the house has been stabilized, I believe this landmark of the crossroads to be in its original location. Deb Comer’s comment seems to confirm: My grandparents lived in Comer on a farm and we used to go to Gholston Stand on hot summer days to get Cokes or ice creams. There were two elderly farmers who lived in that house who used to sit on the porch in rocking chairs and wave to everyone who drove by. I always found it very sweet, but somehow sad too.

If this is the farmhouse that sits kind of “next door” to Gholston Stand, I remember it from my childhood. My grandparents lived in Comer on a farm and we used to go to Gholston Stand on hot summer days to get Cokes or ice creams. There were two elderly farmers who lived in that house who used to sit on the porch in rocking chairs and wave to everyone who drove by. I always found it very sweet, but somehow sad too.
