This appears to have been built as a double-pen house with a later rear addition.

Looks kind of like my grandparents house. Theirs was originally a two room log cabin with a fireplace. Grandpa added a kitchen, back porch, two bedrooms and another room off the front porch and closed it all in with cyprus batting boards with a tin roof. They raised 8 kids in that house and it’s still like they left it when they passed away within two weeks of each other 30 years ago.
