The Ashburn post office was built in 1939. The engineer was a Mr. Bradford whose daughter married Mr. Harold Barnes, Sr. of Dakota, Ga. and they had a daughter Katherine Barnes Hobby and two sons, Brad Barnes, named for his grandfather, and Bill Barnes. There are a number of post offices built under this same design.
