This congregation was organized in 1957 and services were held in the Dawson Woman’s Clubhouse until the church was completed in 1960. It was designed by Edward Vason Jones, a prominent architect of his day.

My understanding is that some of the lumber came from the old Americus District Methodist Parsonage which was on the Columbus/Albany Highway. The Cordele and Americus Districts merged at some point and the District Supt.’s residence moved to Cordele. Some of the doors were used as paneling for the den of the Dawson Methodist parsonage during the pastorate of David Duck.
