This Georgian cottage has a strong Greek Revival influence.
As of April 30, 2025, this home, which was vacant for more than 4 years, was purchased by Gerald and Karen Quick and is currently being restored to its original historic charm. The Quick family has roots in Midville, GA, and Burke County dating back 4+ generations.

While doing research in preparation for restoring our home, we’ve looked at both Georgian styles and Greek Revival. The Greek Revival influence is obvious, but not sure why this house was identified as Georgian in your original post. Please expound. Thank you.

The Georgian style refers to “two rooms deep divided by a central hallway.
There are 3 rooms across the back. The central hallway expands into a flexroom (breakfast room, utility room, mudroom) with a full bathroom off of the primary suite, but accessible to the flexroom, and a kitchen adjoined to the formal dining room, also accessible to the hallway/flexroom. Definitely a central entry/exit down the middle running from the front portico to the exterior rear steps. We are still trying to determine what was original to the house, what was added and when.
The room across the back was most likely a later addition, though not necessarily very late. These are often referred to as shed rooms.
This house had several owners since the 1920s. It was occupied by A lawyer, newspaper editor, and was a doctor’s office in the early 1950s. It was last owned by 2 brothers Emory & Larry Williams now deceased.
