Jacob Eberhart House, 1854, Colbert

The Jacob Eberhart log cabin was saved and relocated to downtown Colbert, where it was reconstructed in its original form. It’s a good representation of a typical working class antebellum dwelling of this area of Georgia.

Did not know of the Jacob Eberhardt restored family home in Colbert but look forward to visiting very soon when I’m next in Carlton continuing my history gathering of Eberhardt’s. Jacob was my father’s grandfather.

Jacob was my great grand mother’s father. Her brother David Eberhardt helped raise my dad after his father died when my dad was 8 months old. When my mom and dad married, uncle Dave allowed my parents to live in the house. My oldest sister (still living) was born in the house and was delivered by Doc Hampton.
