Richards Building, 1898, Jasper

This marble-front commercial block was built by Drs. F. C. and W. A. Richards. The Coca-Cola mural on the side of the building was restored in recent years.

When I was a kid, the “Five & Ten Cent Store” (the locals said that instead of five & dime) was located in the Richards Building. I brought home several toys & Revell Star Wars model kits from there. I remember there was a sign in the window that said “Closed Sunday–the Day is worth more than the Dollar”.
