This appears to have been a neighborhood grocery, probably built between the 1920s-1940s. The cylindrical brick posts are a nice uncommon detail.

My Father owned this grocery Store in the 1970s up until 1981 I believe. When we first bought the store it had the old Colonial Bread Screen doors. There were clearly the remnants of old lines that ran to a gas pump out front. The City paved over them.
It is amazing how many places you photograph that I have seen and love.
Thanks Brian. Unique indeed! Very unusual to have such a canopy on a retail grocery. Any chance the main building could be pre WW I grocery that had the canopy added later when they began selling gasoline or perhaps became a filling station? Also like the looks of the open lumber shed seen in the background across the street!
That’s a good possibility, Ben. The parapetted sides do seem to hearken to a slightly earlier construction.
