Rawls-Long House, Circa 1868, Guyton

Other than the name and date, I know no history of this house. My observation is that it is two rooms deep and laid out like an I-house. It’s situated away from the road on a large lot.

I’ll see if my cousin-in-law or his mother know about this house. She is from Springfield, Ga. & has lived in Florida for several decades now after marrying my husband’s uncle/his mother’s brother.

Brian great old house! I would surmise this started life as a 4 up/4 down ”I” house, but that it has had some ”modernizations”. The left front gable looks as if it might have been added (the gable vent looks like it could have been bought at Home Depot LOL) and the double ganged windows with such a narrow mullion is definitely not from 1868. Love the wrap around porch which could also be an addition but a much earlier one. The column positions on the right is a mystery…perhaps one column removed and the corner column moved to the left? The chimney on the left hints at a center fire place in all 4 rooms to the left while the right chimney is positioned to make one thing the four rooms on the right had corner fireplaces.
