Bray Commissary, Cecil

This was one of the last survivors of Cecil’s commercial heyday. It was razed in 2015.

My great-grandfather worked for the Bray Co, when it was in Cecil. J.N. Bray was his brother-in-law. I didn’t know any buildings from the company were still in existence.

This is the old Bray Commissary. It was built after the Bray family moved their saw mill to Cecil in the 1890’s from Broxton, Ga. The saw mill was across the street from this building on the site of the present day saw mill. The Bray Company moved to Valdosta around 1905.
