Frank Primitive Baptist Church is a beautiful place set among abundant fields and is always well-maintained. Founded in 1913 by thirty-four members of the Willacoochee Church (now Ocilla Primitive Baptist) and Brushy Creek Church who felt the need for a Primitive Baptist church in the Frank Community, the congregation met in the old Frank Schoolhouse until construction of this building was completed in 1918. Elder L. M. Ball was the Moderator of the Presbytery and Elder J. A. Sutton the clerk. Over a hundred years later, Frank remains one of Irwin County’s most historic and active congregations.

I am with Donna Griffin. That’s my church. My family home is just a hop, skip and a jump from the church. I inside of this beautiful country church is where I learned of faith, family and friends. My parents Dalton and Joyce Pate has us there everything the doors were open and sometimes when they weren’t. I grew up there, was baptized there, got married there, and held the funerals for both my parents there. Although, I no longer live there this sacred ground will always have a piece of my heart and soul. It maybe plain, but the stained glass windows are awesome inspiring. Thanks you for showing a big piece of my “home.”
i love this church!! i am a member there but have not been in some time. i now live in another town. both of my parents are at rest there and many more family members. this is a very nice church, nothing fancy. makes you feel like you are at home. Donna we are related!! my mother is Charlotte Paulk Smith .
That’s my church – My granny and papa’s home sit’s across the road, I grew up just down this road from the church and walked to church many Sunday’s. The Royal family (My mother was Dorothy Royal Grimsley and grandfather was James Royal)were original founders and members (I remember the story that a time when the church was not having services every Sunday, that my great grandfather would go sit on the steps on Sunday and have his church by himself. THis is the same Royal family that are direct decendants of William Jackson Royal (father of James Alfred, father of James Shinholster, father of Dorothy, mother of me) who founded the Royal Singing Convention in Mystic Georgia and is pictures in this publication – I’m honored to see my childhood and rich heritage dipicted here and endeared by others. The comments here echo ones I’ve heard all of my life when people visit Frank Church and community – it is truly a wonderful, special place. Home is a part of me.
Glad you liked the photo and comments, Donna.
This is about 4 miles from Ocilla on Frank Church Road, Terry! It’s a real beauty, so symmetrical and plain…One of my favorite area churches.
Wow, where that?
